David Friedberg is an experienced and successful entrepreneur and investor, with a deep business and scientific background. Prior to founding The Production Board, Mr. Friedberg was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Climate Corporation, a digital agriculture company that was acquired by Monsanto in 2013 for approximately $1.1 billion. He is also the founder and Chairman of Metromile, a leading digital insurance platform and per-mile auto insurance company that recently merged with INSU Acquisition Corp. II, a fintech-targeted SPAC, and now trades on the Nasdaq with the ticker MILE. Mr. Friedberg is a founder and/or board member at multiple TPB businesses, including Brightloom, Northern Quinoa Production Company, Soylent, Clara Foods, Pattern Ag, TripleBar Bio, Uplifting Results Labs, Cana Technology, Ohalo Genetics, and Tillable. Prior to founding The Climate Corporation, Mr. Friedberg held roles in Corporate Development and Business Product Management at Google. Mr. Friedberg graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Astrophysics.
William Hauser is a serial founder and finance executive, with a breadth of experience leading finance and strategy for technology, food and agriculture businesses from inception to maturity. He is currently the VP of Finance at The Production Board, and in addition serves as a member of the board of directors of Northern Quinoa Production Company, a leading North American quinoa producer, where he previously served as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to The Production Board, Mr. Hauser co-founded Darwin Homes, a venture-backed real estate technology platform, served as Director of Finance and Analytics at DoorDash, co-founded Two Degrees, a mission-oriented CPG brand, and was an Analyst at Goldman Sachs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Harvard University.
April Underwood brings broad operating experience in technology product development, engineering, innovation and consumer engagement, and extensive experience as an investor and advisor in sustainability, food and biotech companies. She is currently the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Local Laboratory Corp, a venture-backed online marketplace for local businesses under the brand Nearby, and serves on the board of directors of Zillow Group. Ms. Underwood is also a founding member of #ANGELS, a women-owned and operated investment group, as well as a Venture Partner at Obvious Ventures. She was formerly the Chief Product Officer of Slack Technologies, and, prior to that, held various product and engineering roles at The Climate Corporation (formerly known as WeatherBill), Google, Travelocity, and Intel. Ms. Underwood holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and Business Honors from The University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from The University of California at Berkeley (Haas).
Bharat Vasan is an experienced executive and board member with over 15 years of leadership experience in the consumer technology sector, particularly in taking new technologies to market where hardware, software and services intersect. Mr. Vasan has a track record of leading and scaling businesses in multiple industries, across different stages of their lifecycle, including raising capital, and mergers and acquisitions. He currently sits on the boards of Uplifiting Results Labs and Cana Technology, and is TPB’s President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining The Production Board, Mr. Vasan was the Chief Executive Officer of PAX Labs and, prior to that, led multiple businesses to successful exits, including as the President and Chief Operating Officer at August Home (acquired by Assa Abloy), and as the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of BASIS Science (acquired by Intel, Inc.). Mr. Vasan also played various roles in corporate development and executive leadership at Electronic Arts. He received his undergraduate degree from Middlebury College and his graduate degree from Columbia University.
Dr. Neil Renninger is an experienced entrepreneur, investor and board member who brings deep technical knowledge in synthetic biology, biomanufacturing, and alternative food and nutrition. He most recently co-founded and served as co-Chief Executive Officer of Ripple Foods, a food tech company using alternative proteins in the production of alternative dairy products, and he continues to serve as a member of the board of directors. In addition, Dr. Renninger is currently a board observer at GreenLight Biosciences, a platform biology company with proprietary technology for the production of mRNA for the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries, where he previously served as a member of the board of directors. Prior to Ripple Foods, Dr. Renninger was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Khosla Ventures, a leading venture capital firm in biotech and life sciences, and was a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Amyris, a pioneering synthetic biology company utilizing microbes to produce pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, and fuels, which he helped grow through a successful IPO. Dr. Renninger holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Kerry Whorton Cooper brings extensive experience in building sustainability-driven consumer brands and reshaping the global operations, supply chain and manufacturing of major global consumer products and energy companies as an executive, advisor and board member. She is currently an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Harvard Business School and a member of the boards of directors of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Fernish, and Treau. She previously served on the board of directors of BevMo and Weddington Way. Prior to that, Ms. Whorton Cooper served as President and Chief Operations Officer of Rothy’s, a fashion brand built on sustainable manufacturing processes and recycled materials and Chief Executive Officer of Choose Energy, a venture-backed online marketplace for consumer energy. In prior roles, she served as Chief Operations Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of ModCloth and Vice President of Global eCommerce, Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of Marketing and Strategy of Walmart.com. Ms. Whorton Cooper holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
